Tonight was the Ophthalmology department graduation celebration. Andrew and his colleagues Ethan and Matt were honored with a BBQ dinner at Dr. Rosa's ranch. It's so much fun to go out there every year for this party, and even more fun this year with Andrew being one of the guests of honor. The Rosa's horse was working overtime giving rides to the children. There was a trampoline and little go-cart type cars for the kids to play on too. Drew was really wishing he was big enough to join the fun! After dinner, they had a short program in honor of the graduating residents. Dr. Smith, the program director, said a few words about each graduate. I'm always proud of Andrew and the person he is, but tonight it was a special treat to hear what his boss had to say about him. I wanted to share with you the kind words Dr. Smith had to say.
After the serious stuff was over, the 1st and 2nd year residents had a video they compiled to share their take on the three graduates. Unfortunately, I don't have any of that on tape...but let's just say it was much less kind and way more hilarious!! It was more of a roast for the guys. Andrew was portrayed as the "Bossenator". They Photoshopped a few pictures of his face on some really beefy bodies! We laughed ourselves to tears! It was a great way to wrap up 3 truly wonderful years of residency. Congratulations Andrew on a job well done! I'm so proud of the man you are and all that you've accomplished!
