Impromptu Party

The Poages got a new air conditioner in their house on Thursday. So, what's a sister to do when she's got a hot house under construction...a 6 week old...and a toddler? Head to Temple!!!
Steph, Avery, & Julia escaped the heat and came to hang out with Drew for another family playdate! We were SO excited to hear they were heading our way. We ate lunch and the little ones hung out in the baby contraptions. Avery had a big toy box to play with and lots of fun hats to try on. We even plugged in some Baby Einstein music and had a little dance party! What a fun way to kill time while new air conditioners are installed. Thanks for the play date Poages!

Going Underground

Blogs are so much fun! I love posting about Drew and everything going on in our ever-changing lives. I love reading other blogs and keeping up with far away friends! I've even "blog-stalked" and read a few blogs of people I didn't know but found inspiring or entertaining. We bloggers all blog-stalk at some point! But, it has recently come to my attention that not everyone who reads this blog has our best interests at heart.

So, in order to protect my most valuable possession - my family - I'm taking the Bossen Blog underground! But, I don't want to inadvertently cut out friends or family members who want to keep up with us. So, if you're a reader of the Bossen Blog, please e-mail me at jennifer_bossen@hotmail.com so I will be sure to add you to the "Members Only" list!

Happy blogging!

Block Party

Our church had a block party last week and we took Drew. The jump houses, face painting, & hot dogs made all sorts of fun for a Wednesday night! Drew couldn't do much more than watch, but he did have a good time getting his face painted and hanging out with friends!

Checking out the bouncy houses

Mom had a heart painted on my cheek!

Are we having fun yet?

Drew says hi to Kylie & Jan

Laminin

Have you ever heard of it? I hadn't...until my mom sent me one of the greatest e-mails I've seen in a while. It's a little long, but well worth the 9 minutes it takes to watch.
Laminin....a microscopic encouragement of how truly incredible the love of God is!! Please watch Louie Giglio explain.

Colossians 1:15-17 (Paul talking about Christ)
He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For by him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together.

2nd Piano Lesson

Drew had his second piano lesson today from the comfort of his Bumbo! It was too cute not to take a picture of! I think he really likes piano so far.

Mother's Day

My first Mother's Day was wonderful!! Drew woke up bright and early at 3am to wish me a Happy Mother's Day. Luckily, he also quickly went back to sleep...which was a big gift!

Andrew & Drew surprised me with a Bible engraved with my name on the front. We've been married almost 7 years now, and my Bibles all still said "Jennifer Ellison" on the front. Not any more though! We were heading out to church Sunday morning and I opened the car door to sit down and a beautiful black leather Bible with "Jennifer Ellison Bossen" engraved in gold on the front was waiting for me in my seat. It was the perfect gift for my 1st Mother's Day and I'll treasure it forever. What sweet boys I have!

At church, all the Mom's were asked to stand and be recognized. It was surreal to actually be in the group this year. We were given flowers at the end of the service too! It was really fun to celebrate Mother's Day with my family...Mom & Dad were there, and Collin, Steph, Avery, & Julia too. After church, we all ate lunch and Carole & George joined us. It was really fun to have everyone together.

Home Sweet Home

Our house in Sherman is finished! It was on a Parade of Homes benefiting the Wilson N. Jones Hospital this past weekend, so we were able to take an early peek at it! It was professionally decorated by several of the local and national furniture companies. It was such a treat to get to see our house complete with furniture and everything! We got some great ideas.

Here are pictures...but don't get used to all the beautiful furniture. It will be a lot more empty than this when we move in!! We promise to have a few guest beds though, so come visit!!

Day with Daddy

Andrew had free time this afternoon, so we got a Daddy Day! It started with Andrew reading some books to Drew. I went in to peek and found Drew sitting in the glider like a big boy & Andrew was on the ottoman! Drew loves books now...he was totally into it. Then, we ate lunch at Chili's and Drew hung out and played with his little "Shapes on Board" friends on his car seat. He's learning how to hold on to things, but letting go is a whole separate challenge. After Chili's, we went down to Salado and did a little shopping. Then we came back and put on pj's and goofed off a little more. His onesie got stuck on his head and Andrew said he looked like Shrek! Ha!! It was SUCH a fun day having Daddy home with us!

The Blanket Pictures

My sister had this wonderful idea when Avery was born to put her on the same blanket each month and take pictures to chronicle her growth. It turned into a family event each month and they had tons of fun doing it and watching Avery grow. So...we decided to copy their great idea and do the same for Drew.

We've been taking blanket pictures each month, but I haven't posted any yet. I was waiting to try and figure out how to put them together in a collage like Steph did with Avery. But, Drew will probably be 20 before I get that figured out. So, they're not glorious like Stephanie's were, but here's our little man on the blanket!

Sip & See

There's no shortage of love for our little guy, that's for sure. My mom's friends hosted a Sip & See for Drew back at the end of March. I didn't get a chance to make pictures with my camera, but I did manage to get copies from other cameras in action that day. It was such a wonderful party hosted by my mom's sweet friends. Debbie Hixson was so generous to open her home for the party. She also made a precious photo book of pictures of Drew's first days in the hospital and at home which will be a keepsake forever! Drew met so many friends that have been special to our family for many years. Some have been friends to my mom since I was a little child!! It was an incredible "welcome" party for Drew.

Dedication Day

Sons are a heritage from the LORD, children a reward from him. ~Psalm 127:3

We dedicated Drew to the Lord today in church. It was such a special day as we stood up at the front of the church and promised to raise our son in a Christian household, to model Christ to him through our actions, and to teach him about Jesus so that one day he may give his heart to the Lord. Gram & Grandpoppy, Grandma and Grandpa Bossen, and Aunt Heather & Uncle Adam were all there to stand in support of us as we made these promises.

It was a beautiful worship service with all the elements of a Christian celebration. The hour started with a baptism, we sang, Drew was dedicated, we celebrated the Lord's Supper, Andrew played a medley of classic children's praise songs for the offertory, and one of our friend's daughters made a profession of faith at the invitation. Sundays don't get much better than that!

After church, everyone came back to our house for lunch. We had BBQ with all the fixings, apple pie & ice cream.

Meet & Greet

What a fun weekend. Grandma and Grandpa Bossen had a family meet & greet for their friends to see Drew. It was a great party with lots of friends to love on our little guy, lots of food, and lots of fun! Drew did really well at the party. He's getting old enough where the loud noises that used to lull him to sleep now start to scare him a little bit. He wasn't quite sure what to think of the laughter when it got loud, but he hung in there. It's so much fun to see your child be so loved!

Playgroup Fun

Our family is officially big enough to have it's own play group!! Drew and I went up to Dallas for the day yesterday to hang out with Gram, Aunt Steph, & cousins Avery & Julia. What a fun day! I'm truly loving my new-found retirement free time!

Julia greeted us wearing her "I love Aunt Jen" onesie. She has changed so much in the 2 weeks since she was born, and she gets more & more precious every time I see her. Avery probably thought the playgroup was a real dud because all the other kids just sat in baby machines all day. I promise Avery, they'll grow up and be more fun soon!! This was just the first of many more fun family playgroups to come.
